This year, make a resolution to spend more time with the family, waste less time on the computer and make your business even more efficient. New Year resolutions often fade from memory after January, but with superfast broadband you can make sure they stay connected.

Latest figures show more than 42,000 premises across the area now have access to superfast broadband, thanks to the Broadband East Riding programme.

Through the programme, East Riding of Yorkshire Council, working with BT, has helped to upgrade more than 200 cabinets with fibre optic and laid almost 300km of fibre duct.

With superfast broadband, downloads are quicker and streaming is more smooth, meaning less time wasted watching a buffering wheel and more time for family nights in. Say goodbye to frustration, as more devices can connect simultaneously, so even if mum is catching up on ITV Player, the teenagers can still play online games and dad can enjoy all the features on his new tablet.

Businesses grow more efficient and can save costs with high-speed broadband. The reliable connection grants access to dependable conference calling, cloud storage and a multitude of online resources. Faster broadband also improves communication with customers and makes working from home a viable option for many.

To get superfast broadband, residents and businesses will need to contact their service provider and upgrade to a fibre optic package.

This year, Broadband East Riding will start helping to connect a further 4,500 premises in rural areas; working towards the national ambition to make superfast broadband accessible to 95 per cent of the country by 2017.

Bridlington Businessman Was Going Nowhere Quick Until Superfast Fibre Broadband Arrived

IT consultant Richard Hale has saved thousands on fuel bills and slashed his annual commute by more than 20,000 miles – thanks to the Broadband East Riding programme.

Self-employed Richard said existing broadband speeds to his home in Bridlington were so slow he was forced to make a 140 mile commute to offices in York and Leeds to connect with clients.

But the arrival of superfast broadband as part of the Broadband East Riding roll-out has enabled him to stay put, ditch his long commute and work from the family home, serving customers around the globe.
